Contemporary 1/2 calf over marbled boards, title in gilt to spine, raised bands in gilt to spine, repeat gilt motif in 3 compartments, spine reinforced and repaired, edge rubbing; clean tear in one plate repaired (facing 188) several tears repaired, minor soiling. 24 full-page hand-coloured illustrations by Thomas Rowlandson. The tale is of perpetual charm, and Rowlandson's plates show his full sympathy with the text.
