A'BECKETT, Gilbert Abbot.
John Leech (illus.)
The Comic History of England.
Prepared at the height of the Victorian age, The Comic History of England quickly became one of Leech's and A'Beckett's great collaborative successes. It went through many editions. The Comic History combined the essential episodes of English history with wonderful literary and illustrative wit. It intended to "blend amusement with instruction."
